Michelin recommended  restaurants:

Altrokè
Inspired by Istria and the Mediterranean, the meat and fish dishes served at Altrokè are enhanced by the use of ingredients such as fruit, aromatic herbs and olive oil which are grown or produced on the restaurant’s own property in Plavje near Koper. The ambience here is pleasantly rustic, with exposed stonework and a brick-vaulted ceiling which blend in well with this old district of the city.
Location
Stari trg 19
1000 Ljubljana

Georgie Bistro
Just a stone’s throw from the heart of the historic centre, this relaxed, informal restaurant serves beautifully prepared contemporary-style dishes. Although there’s a focus on Slovenian ingredients here, the chef’s imagination is also inspired by influences from outside the country. Choose between an à la carte and tasting menus of varying lengths (three to nine courses). The pairing options include organic wines, as well as craft beers and home-made syrups. Popular for work lunches, and so very busy at lunchtime.
Location
Čufarjeva ulica 5
1000 Ljubljana

Gostilna AS
Just a few steps from the iconic Triple Bridge over the Ljubljanica River, you can choose between a dining room with a classic vaulted ceiling or, on milder days, a charming outdoor space surrounded by greenery, offering views of the castle. The menu stays true to tradition, featuring a wide selection of Slovenian meats − primarily grilled − along with fresh Adriatic fish and homemade pasta.
Location
Čopova ulica 5a

JB Restavracija
The Michelin Guide's review
The restaurant is named after Janez Bratovž, regarded as the father of modern Slovenian cuisine and the author of a book detailing his philosophy, ingredients, and forty of his most celebrated recipes. He opened his restaurant in 1992 inside this elegant Secessionist building from the 1920s, designed by the architect Jože Plečnik. Today, in this captivating architectural setting, his son Tomaž leads the kitchen, skilfully blending regional ingredients and flavours with refined classical influences. Don’t miss the iconic JB ravioli, the restaurant’s signature dish, filled with pistachio and cheese and served with foie gras and veal jus.
Location
Miklošičeva cesta 19

BREG
Overlooking Ljubljana’s riverfront, this restaurant boasts one of the most famous and picturesque views of the city from its terrace in the summer months, while in the winter the historic building’s indoor dining rooms are equally attractive. The cuisine brings a breath of international creativity to the city, with influences from Italy, France and the Middle East in its dishes. A perfect example is the hummus served with lamb ragu, pita bread, pesto and pine nuts – a real culinary voyage around the Mediterranean!

LANDERIK
The Michelin Guide's review
This small restaurant on one of Ljubljana’s typical pedestrianised streets boasts a modern, minimalist-style dining room, as well as an attractive outdoor terrace from which to enjoy the views of this picturesque district in the heart of the city. To appreciate the cuisine to the full, we recommend choosing one of the tasting menus. The desserts include a lighter version of the traditional Kaiserschmarrn, featuring small portions of pancake, apricots and a truly mouthwatering vanilla cream.
Location
Stari Trg 11
1000 Ljubljana

RESTAVRACIJA STRELEC
This restaurant is set within the historic and picturesque Archers’ Tower in Ljubljana, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, easily reachable in just a few minutes by funicular (last ride at 7 PM, so the return must be made on foot or by taxi). The elegant dining room, adorned with sgraffito murals from the 1950s inspired by local folk songs, provides the perfect backdrop for Igor Jagodic’s cuisine. The chef offers a single nine-course tasting menu, which can be reduced to seven or five courses, featuring modern and creative dishes that pay homage to Mediterranean tradition. Highlights include the turbot with Adriatic shrimp, leek, pistachio, and bacon, as well as the roe deer tartare with hazelnuts and shiso leaves. The wine list offers a deep exploration of local selections while also extending to France and Italy. We relied on the staff’s recommendations for a small wine tasting by the glass and were thoroughly satisfied.During the warmer months, don’t miss the opportunity to book a table outside on the ancient ramparts, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city.
